Julia Grillmayr, Ph.D.

 

 

 Researcher and lecturer in comparative litterature

at the University of Vienna

 

 

Julia Grillmayr holds a PhD in Comparative Literature from the University of Vienna. Her thesis dealt with 'technological ecologies' and their expression in selected literary texts as well as contemporary literary theory and philosophy. (see description below)

 

Currently she is working on a new research project together with Univ.-Prof. Dr. Karin Harrasser, Professor for Cultural Studies at the University of Art and Design Graz (Kunstuni Graz). The project Science Fiction, Fact and Forecast (working title) will investigate the term 'scenario' and its different conceptions and understandings. Scenario-based methods in various disciplines will be examined and contrasted with narration and extrapolation strategies in Science Fiction literature.

 

Since 2013, Julia Grillmayr is also working as a journalist. She has been freelancing for several magazines and newspapers, especially the daily newspaper 'Der Standard', where she had been head of department of the departmend SchülerStandard from 2011 until the Thinking Space project start in october 2012.
